Improving Castromediano Museum's navigation and orientation
PROBLEM

The "Sigismondo Castromediano" museum is an archaeological museum in Lecce. It is the oldest museum in Puglia, founded in 1868 by Sigismondo Castromediano, Duke of Cavallino (LE); it preserves numerous testimonies of the Messapian civilization and Roman settlements.
The museum needed an indoor navigation app to make the experience more accessible to visitors, but it is located in an ancient palace with an ornate wooden ceiling and thick walls.

HOW WE
SOLVED IT

Thanks to the Nextome SDK integrated into the app developed by Noovle (a TIM S.p.A. company), it was possible to create a wayfinding system, just select a POI and start navigation.
Beacons were correctly deployed on the ceiling and uniformly distributed over the area.
With this configuration sub-meter precision is achieved, to allow visitors to be guided in front of the right artwork.

KPI
  • Increase visitor satisfaction through an interactive step-by-step digital guide available throughout the museum.

  • Reduce unplanned visit time by offering personalized routes based on visitor interests (e.g., most famous artworks).

  • Improve space utilization by analyzing real-time pedestrian flow data to balance visitor distribution.
